Xbox “Play Anywhere” Program Begins Sept. 13

Xbox “Play Anywhere” Program Begins Sept. 13

Microsoft is really excited about its “Play Anywhere” initiative, and it wants you to get excited, too. I’d say almost the entirety of its E3 conference was centered around Play Anywhere, with the fact that all of the huge Xbox One exclusives will also be available on Windows 10 as a main point of emphasis. Like it or not, it seems PC players are getting the better end of the bargain here, as the Xbox One is soon to be devoid of any hardware-exclusive games. Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, ReCore, Scalebound, Cuphead, We Happy Few , and more have all been announced as “Xbox One and Windows 10” exclusives.

So when can we expect this new program to roll out? According to a statement from Microsoft (via Polygon ), Play Anywhere will kick off September 13. “The Windows 10 Anniversary Update and the related Xbox update coming this summer enable the Windows Store on Windows 10 and Xbox One to support Xbox Play Anywhere games,” they said. Once both updates are complete and the program goes live, any Play Anywhere title you purchase digitally from a Microsoft storefront will be playable on Xbox Live and Windows 10, with save data, achievements, and DLC all carried over seamlessly from one platform to the other. Here’s hoping it will actually turn out like they’re promising.
