Evolve Matures into a Free Game

Evolve Matures into a Free Game

Remember Evolve ? It was Turtle Rock Studios and 2K Games’ multiplayer FPS where four people would be hunters and a fifth the monster they were trying to hunt. Even though it’s only a year old, the game never took off due to DLC disappointment and other issues. Now, the developer and publisher are trying to make it right by making it free.

That’s right, Evolve is now free. A beta is available on PCs, with people able to come in and start trying and playing it. Turtle Rock Studios is committed to getting things right this time, saying it’s reworking hunter classes, improving load times, maps, and UI, redoing the progression system, and generally fixing as much as possible.

This means people who bought Evolve are now Founders. Everyone they already own comes with the free version, and they’ll get even more freebies as development continues.

How do you feel about this transition? Do you think it’ll be enough to give Evolve a boost? I’m optimistic! I think this is a game that deserves a second chance.
