No Man’s Sky Size Revealed, Update in the Works

No Man’s Sky has finally gone gold. After years of development, an unfortunate delay, and more than a few death threats, this enormous adventure game is finally ready to get printed and shipped. In No Man’s Sky you’re free to roam and explore the greater galaxies at your leisure, and Hello Games has promised near-limitless novelty and potential as you go from planet to planet. The enormity of this game is achieved through some impressive and complex procedural generation techniques, which also enabled the team to keep the game’s size to a minimum.

Hello Games founder Sean Murray has been fairly active on Twitter following the announcement of No Man’s Sky gold status, and yesterday he revealed that the size of the game on-disc is only 6GB. “A lot of that is audio,” he added. 6 GB is borderline negligible in this day and age ( Street Fighter V is taking up over 50 gigs on my PS4), so eager explorers will be happy to know that they can jump right in without having to clear out a bunch of space on their hard drives. We may, however, be expecting a day-one patch when No Man’s Sky comes out on August 9; Murray also noted that the team was currently working on the first update.
