World of Warcraft’s Silence Penalty Will Shut Up Trolls

World of Warcraft’s Silence Penalty Will Shut Up Trolls

World of Warcraft is going to be shutting down bullies and jerks prior to Legion . Blizzard has announced a new punishment for the game’s most toxic players. A silence penalty is going to be enacted alongside the pre-expansion patch paving the way for World of Warcraft: Legion.

Blizzard is going to be investigating World of Warcraft players who keep being reported for Abusive Chat and Spam. If they’re found guilty, a silence penalty will be placed on the offender as a punishment. They’ll be able to whisper with friends and reply to whispers from others, create and join parties and raids,  participate in party and raid chats when invited, talk in moderated Global Channels, sign up for pre-made groups, and share quests. However, they won’t be able to talk in auto-joined global channels, Instance Chats, create or update premade group listings, send duel, party, or War Game invitations, create calendar events and invites, or send mail.

We even know how long World of Warcraft offenders will be silenced. First time offenders will receive a 24-hour silence penalty. The more times you’re reported and punished, the longer it gets. Each time you’re hit, it doubles. So it’ll go 24-hours, 48-hours, and so on. I guess this means people better be a little nicer to each other in chats!
