Kojima Says Death Stranding Will be His Best Work

Kojima Says Death Stranding Will be His Best Work

Kojima has been traveling around the world with PS4 architect Mark Cerny in search of the perfect engine, and perfect tech, for his new game Death Stranding . Kojima wants to make sure that he doesn’t have to sacrifice creativity because of limitations. Speaking at this year’s Develop (via GamesRadar ), Kojima said that he’s often been forced to compromise his creative vision in the past due to tech constraints. “So far, when I’m making games there’s ultimately a point where I have to give up on something, where I need to compromise in order to get things done.”

The pair seem confident that technology won’t get in the way of Death Stranding becoming everything Kojima wants it to be. “This time,” he said, “working with [Mark Cerny], through technology, using different technologies, we will get around that. I’m very confident that working together we will be able to make something that no one has ever seen, something completely new. It should be my best work so far, I’m very confident working with you.” Pretty big words from one of the industry’s most creative minds. If this was Peter Molyneux speaking, the talk of creating something that “no one has ever seen” would would simply make me roll my eyes. This is Hideo Kojima, though, and I’m sure that whatever he is working on will turn out to be very special indeed.
