Rainbow Six Siege Operation Skull Rain Drops August 2

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Skull Rain Drops August 2

Ubisoft has revealed the next expansion for tactical shooter Rainbow Six: Siege . The expansion is called Operation Skull Rain , and is scheduled to drop August 2. Per usual, the expansion will introduce two new operators and a new map. Although it will all be available for all players eventually, the operators will be available for free for season pass holders exclusively for the first seven days.

Caveira is our new defensive operator. She has the “Silent Step” ability, which will allow her to sneak up on enemies, immobilize them, and reveal enemy positions. The new attacker, Capitao, carries a tactical crossbow which fires bolts that will unleash an toxic gas in a small AOE cloud. He also has micro smoke grenades that can mask team positions and movements. The new map is set in a Brazilian favela.

Along with all of the new content, Operation Skull Rain is also bringing a bunch of critical gameplay adjustments. From the official Ubisoft blog : “Perhaps the biggest of these is the addition of a Tactical Realism custom game mode. By popular request, the Tactical Realism mode prevents players from marking enemies, allowing only the timer, compass, gadget, and weapon panels to be visible in the HUD. Additionally, there are no kill confirmations, and more realistic magazine management will be put into play. The idea is to push players to rely even more on their teammates and communication for information on enemy locations and kill counts.”

Stronger anti-cheat measures will also be enforced moving forward, which will be most welcome for PC players. Expect more details (and maybe a neat trailer) on Operation Skull Rain during the Season Two Xbox Pro League Finals livestream this Saturday.
