Destiny Plagued by Beaver Errors

Destiny Plagued by Beaver Errors

Destiny appears to be experiencing a bit of a bumpy road on the way to its final major expansion, Rise of Iron . After the last major patch, players are reporting a precipitous rise in errors code-named “Beaver.” According to Bungie, Beaver errors “are caused by a failure to connect your console to another player’s console via the internet.” Traditionally, regular occurances of Beaver errors are the result of Wi-Fi, router, or other network setup issues, but right now they’re being experienced by many players who hadn’t previously had the error and have not changed their network setup.

Bungie is aware of the issue and is investigating the problem. It released a hot fix yesterday that’s meant to alleviate the problem, but it hasn’t gone away completely. If you were facing a lot of Beavers earlier this week, though, you might want to check in and see if the hot fix solved your issue.

Why Beaver, by the way? Apparently, Bungie names all its errors after animals. This is certainly appreciated by reporters looking for interesting stories on a slow news day, so here’s to the goofy minds at Bungie, and here’s hoping that the company can track down whatever tricky bug is causing the current Beaver outbreak for good.
