Hearthstone ‘s latest rumored addition was confirmed last night at an event in Shanghai, China. It won’t be a full-blown expansion, rather it’s a new adventure called One Night in Karazhan . This is probably welcome news for most players, as expansions like Whispers of the Old Gods and The Grand Tournament before it tend to change things up rather significantly. With an expansion, over 100 cards are thrown into the fray, older cards are tweaked and nerfed, and new game modes may be altered. An adventure, on the other hand, is more like a DLC pack for the base game.
One Night in Karazhan will be adding 45 new cards that players will unlock by completing single-player missions and by beating bosses. The new cards will be usable in regular ranked matches, the arena, and in tavern brawls. Similar to Curse of Naxxramas , One Night in Karazhan can be fully unlocked for a one-time fee of $20. More frugal players may opt to unlock the adventure wing by wing for $7 a pop (or 700 gold). If you pay for a few wings and decide you’d like to unlock the full adventure, Blizzard will allow you to do so at a discount so you don’t end up spending more than $20. The first wing will open on August 11, with subsequent wings opening up a week at a time.
