Here’s some rather disappointing news. When October rolls around, what do you like to do? Settling in with a scary video game is usually a solid pick, especially if it’s a new release. Unfortunately, Outlast 2 won’t be that game this year. While it originally had a fall 2016 release window, letting it possibly nestle safely in that Halloween spot, a delay is pushing it back quite a few months into 2017.
Outlast 2’ s new release window is the first quarter of 2017. Red Barrels, the developer, cited quality issues. In its Facebook statement, it said it wanted to give its fans the scariest game possible, not making any compromises. If that means a delay that could be a half a year long, so be it.
In Outlast 2 , players are going to follow Blake and Lynn Langermann, a cameraman and his wife who investigate dangerous and otherwise ignored stories. While searching to learn more about a Jane Doe murder case, in which a pregnant woman was killed in an inexplicable way, you stumble through a horrible and scary experience. Naturally, it’ll be a “Mature” rated PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC game.
While delays are never fun, it seems like the people at Red Barrels’ hearts are in the right place. Better to deliver the best game you can.
