BioWare’s Shutting Most of Its Forums Down

BioWare’s Shutting Most of Its Forums Down

Do you like socializing with your fellow fans? I do. I love hanging around official forums for games I enjoy. Which is why this news is particularly sad. BioWare is closing a number of message boards for its games. Basically, if it doesn’t have “ Star Wars” in the name, it’s gone.

Star Wars: The Old Republic’ s forums are the only ones that will remain online. This means the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series’ boards, as well as the general BioWare ones, will be shutting down on August 26, with everything going read-only until October 25, when it will be gone for good. If you have friends there, now’s a good time to find other ways to keep in touch.

As for BioWare news that normally might have come up in forum posts, the company says it will be focusing on social media instead. It advises you to go to its Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube accounts to see its stuff, and turn to fan-made subreddits, tumblrs, and wikis for other information and socialization.

It’s the end of an era, folks. I’m going to miss it. Will you?
