No Man’s Sky Hits 2 Discovery Hallmarks in 1 Week

No Man’s Sky Hits 2 Discovery Hallmarks in 1 Week

No Man’s Sky is a huge game. Yet, despite that, people are making great strides toward seeing everything they possibly can in its vast universe. In fact, their progress is even shocking developers. Two major milestones have been hit in addition to two people actually managing to find each other within the game, and both have to deal with discoveries.

Sean Murray, head of Hello Games, posted the findings on his Twitter . In less than one hour on release day, people found over 1 million species in No Man’s Sky . Overnight, that number reached 10 million. Murray notes this surpasses real-life discoveries, as there haven’t even been that many species found on our own planet.

Murray also commented on the meeting up of two players in No Man’s Sky and how they couldn’t see one another. It turns out they should have been able to, but the servers are so overwhelmed that it couldn’t happen. He says Hello Games never expected so many people playing, and even notes he’s amazed the Discoveries system is working under the stress.

With this sort of interest and progress in such a short span, who knows how far No Man’s Sky could go? I wonder if exploration will persist over the next few weeks and months, and if Hello Games will keep us updated when new plateaus are reached?
