No Man’s Sky seemed like one of those games that promised both everything and nothing in its promotional materials. Hello Games was deliberately obtuse, taking care to obscure information as much as possible. It was frustrating, and a number of contradictory statements came out of it. Now that it’s here, people have been parsing the game and seeing what No Man’s Sky does and doesn’t do. Now, Reddit ’s MeetWayneKerr has been researching and collaborating with other players to list all of the things missing from the game.
This is no ordinary list of complaints. This is a fully substantiated list with references. Every point MeetWayneKerr has compiled is completely accurate and includes examples. There are direct quotes. There are screenshots. Last I checked, there were 39 well thought out and explained points, some with footnotes that went into greater detail. It’s staggering.
Reading through it all made me come to the conclusion that the game we’re playing and the one Hello Games has been promoting up until E3 2016 are really like two different products. That isn’t saying the No Man’s Sky we got is bad, just that it isn’t the experience promoted and discussed for the last few years. How do you feel about this list?
