Ernest Landing in Battleborn

Ernest Landing in Battleborn

Those who backed Battleborn over Overwatch may not be enjoying the same levels of popularity, but at least they know Gearbox and 2K Games aren’t completely giving up on the game yet. New characters are gradually rolling out, with another person joining the cast. Er, rather, another birdie buddy.

Ernest is a bird with triggered explosives and a grenade launcher. He loves explosions, and has an ultimate that sees him throwing a giant egg, which in turn drops proximity mines everywhere. Personally, I’m wondering why a male bird is chucking eggs, and how he’s getting the mines in the egg shell to do so.

People with a season pass, which gives Hero Keys that immediately unlock new heroes, will be able to start using Ernest in Battleborn on August 25. People who didn’t pay for that extra perk will have to wait until September 1 and pay 47,500 in-game credits for him. To help people prepare for that and start saving up, a Double Credits Weekend is being held starting today and ending August 22.

I know this is going to sound silly, but Battleborn’ s Ernest keeps reminding me of Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken. That’s the platformer that sent birds with guns and explosives after an evil penguin. It was pretty entertaining, and hopefully Ernest will be equally memorable.
