A JRPG classic is coming to Windows, Macs, and Linux on January 30, 2017. NIS America has announced it’s porting Disgaea 2 . It’s a pretty big deal, since this was a defining strategic experience on the PlayStation 2.
The PC version might end up being the ultimate iteration of Disgaea 2 . It’ll have every extra from the first two releases, so you’ll have the PS2 and PSP content. That means Axel Mode, extra characters, and a Dark World difficulty.
There are extra bonuses that were never present in these first two PlayStation releases too. Steam Achievements will encourage you to unlock everything. A new UI is being prepared, and you’ll be able to use a keyboard and mouse control scheme with shortcuts. It’ll also be the first time three characters from the Japanese version of Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days appear in the west, as Soul Nomad’ s Gig, La Pucelle Tactics’ Dark Eclair, and Princess Antiphona’s Hymn’ s Miabel all made it in this time.
All told, this is good news. Especially since NIS America has probably learned from the mistakes it might have made with the Disgaea PC port. It’ll take some time, but Disgaea 2 is worth waiting for.
