Wait! Don’t Waste Your Deus Ex Day-One Bonuses

Wait! Don’t Waste Your Deus Ex Day-One Bonuses

Wait, wait, wait! Don’t redeem your pre-order bonuses in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided just yet. There’s something you need to know. Players have been spitting fire over at the Mankind Divided sub-Reddit because it was discovered that most of the day-one bonuses and upgrades you redeem can only be used once, and won’t be there on subsequent playthroughs. It’s a bit of a rip-off, sure, but players are especially pissed because of a misleading in-game message that states, “Once this item is transferred to your inventory, it cannot be returned to the storage, but it can be applied to other saved games before it is used.” This seems to imply that the items can be used in your next new game, but not all of them can.

Eidos Montreal community manager “Poticha” braved the ravenous Reddit of rage to make the following clarification: “Consumables (Praxis Kits, Ammo, Credits, Crafting Parts) are one-time use items. They will be in the storage section of your inventory, until you decide to add them to it. Once you do, they will be ‘consumed’ in you r current playthrough, and not re-usable.” He went on to blame this all on “first party constraints,” as if Sony and Microsoft had something to do with it. The players aren’t buying it.

Weapons, skins, and augs are considered “durables,” and are re-usable, but if you want to have access to those other items then you’ll just need to save your game the first chance you get before redeeming your day-one bonuses. Then, instead of starting a new game in the future, just load up that save file instead and branch out from there. It’s not the most elegant solution, but it works.
