No one celebrates indie developers like Nintendo. When it comes to imaginative, unconventional, and progressive entertainment, Nintendo’s handhelds and consoles are peerless. It only makes sense, then, that Nintendo should shine a flattering spotlight on indie developers making games that embody that same creative spirit. In addition to the return of Nindies @ Night to PAX West, Nintendo has also announced the Nindies Summer Jam event. Every week in September Nintendo will be highlighting a new release on the 3DS or Wii U eShop, and offer a special launch week discount of 10%.
On September 1 we’ll see Axiom Verge (Wii U), Sept. 8 we’ll get Jotun: Valhalla Edition (Wii U), Noitu Love: Devolution (Wii U / 3DS) is coming Sept. 15, a week later we’ll see Severed (Wii U / 3DS cross-buy coming in fall), and finally on Sept. 30 we’ll get Azure Striker GUNVOLT 2 (3DS). Those are just the titles receiving special launch week discounts, but there are a ton of great games on the way, including SteamWorld Heist on the Wii U, DLC for Fast Racing Neo , Hollow Knight , Stardew Valley (yay!), and more.
