Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered Coming Oct. 4

Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered Coming Oct. 4

The idea behind Rocksmith is pretty simple. Since music and rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band were such huge successes, why not gamify the learning of an actual musical instrument? If you could plug a real guitar into your console instead of a plastic one, how long would it take to actually learn how to play the thing? As gimmicky as it sounds, Ubisoft did a really good job with Rocksmith , and it eventually led to a much-improved sequel, Rocksmith 2014 Edition . For those of you who never got the chance to try it out, Ubisoft has a remaster coming your way.

Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered may not be the most creatively titled game we’ve ever heard of, but hey, they couldn’t very well call it Rocksmith 2016 Edition and get away with it, could they? In addition to a few new songs, Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered also comes with additional practice tools, retooled menus, a customizable learning curve, and stat tracking. Ubisoft will also be giving these additional tools and features to anyone who previous purchased Rocksmith 2014 Edition for free, so that’s cool of them.

I played the original Rocksmith quite a bit, and as a musician, I can tell you that it’s actually really useful for learning and practicing. If you need a more productive way to kill time before Final Fantasy XV comes out, I think this is the ticket.
