NBA 2K17 will be launching on September 20. If you’re part of the pre-order “early tip-off” program, you’ll get to play the game starting on September 16. If that’s not early enough for you, 2K Sports announced today that players will have an opportunity to begin their career mode 11 days early with The Prelude . The Prelude will allow players on PS4 and Xbox One to play through the introduction of “MyCareer,” the single-player “sports RPG” mode in NBA 2K17 .
This will be the first time since 2012 that 2K sports has offered any kind of pre-release demo for one of its games, so that’s a pretty good sign of their confidence in the final product. In The Prelude you’ll kick off your budding NBA professional’s career, which apparently starts off at the college level. Your NCAA season will determine how you’re drafted for the NBA. You’ll have access to the character creation suite which, according to the trailer below, is fairly comprehensive. You’ll create a character, choose his position and play style, and adjust his physical attributes accordingly. Looks pretty sick!
