Poke Balls Popping Up at Target

Poke Balls Popping Up at Target

Next time you pass by a Target, take a closer look at the circular bollards outside the store. You know, the ones designed to keep cars from going up on the sidewalk and are red like the Target bull’s-eye. 400 of them are now Poke Balls.

This is part of a marketing campaign to capitalize on Pokemon Go’ s popularity. Of the 1,800 Target stores in the United States, about 400 of them now have Poke Bollards. While only some stores will have these newly painted decorations, all will have new Pokemon displays with merchandise set up for everyone to see and buy.

Target always has had a habit of getting some sorts of exclusives. I used to find Pokemon Center plushes there, and this week they became the exclusive in-store retailer for the Pokemon Trading Card Game’s Generations Elite Trainer Box. Perhaps this means we’ll see all stores become Pokemon Go Poke Stops too?
