Ubisoft’s Closing Ghost Recon Phantoms

Ubisoft’s Closing Ghost Recon Phantoms

Ghost Recon fans are going to have their gaming options reduced this year. A free-to-play PC game is on the outs. Ubisoft says Ghost Recon Phantoms isn’t performing as expected, with few people actually playing anymore, so it will be shutting down the servers for the shooter on December 1.

Which isn’t too bad. Ghost Recon Phantoms’ open beta was first released in fall 2012, with a full launch in 2014. It had an in-game shop, where real cash could be spent on items, but Ubisoft is now longer allowing people to buy in-game currency. Any funds people have available in-game must be spent before the game closed, as that “money” can’t be refunded or transferred to another game.

Ghost Recon Phantoms isn’t the only free-to-play game you’ll be saying goodbye to this year. The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot is also being shuttered by Ubisoft, and it’s for the same reason. It wasn’t successful, so it will be closing on October 25. Also like Ghost Recon Phantoms , you can’t buy in-game cash anymore and won’t get any refunds on in-game funds you did buy.
