Online Retailers Freely Issuing No Man’s Sky Refunds

A lot of people are dissatisfied with what No Man’s Sky turned out to be. The main issue seems to be that after months of promising that the game was multiplayer in a sense – that it was possible to run into players, just not likely – players soon discovered that No Man’s Sky is an exclusively single-player experience. This led a spree of rage-induced sleuthing to uncover all kinds of gameplay and feature promises that didn’t come to fruition and, well, people want their money back.

They’re getting it. Sony, Amazon, and Valve have all been issuing refunds for the digital version of No Man’s Sky for players who are asking for it. It’s notable that Sony and Valve are both extending these refunds well beyond the breadth of their typical limitations. Valve, per its official policy, “will issue a refund for any reason, if the request is made within fourteen days of purchase, and the title has been played for less than two hours.”

Apparently it doesn’t matter how long you’ve played No Man’s Sky . If you’re pissed, you can get your money back. This doesn’t bode well for Hello Games, as it continues to work on patches and cover its tracks.

This is why you never make promises based on visions, before you know what you have the means to accomplish. Lesson learned, Sean Murray.
