Sega Announces Third, Final 3D Classics Collection for 3DS

The Sega 3D Classics Collection is, hands down, the best way to experience nine of the most beloved Sega games of all time. Development studio M2 has reached a level of fame and celebrity within the retro game community for producing definitive versions of every classic game it remasters for the 3DS. If you’re looking for the best way to play Sonic The Hedgehog or Puyo Puyo 2 on a modern system, the 3D Classics Collection is the way to go. There have been two collections released in Japan, and one in the West. According to a recent article in Famitsu, Sega is working on a third retail compilation called Final Stage , and it’s likely we’ll see it here as well.

Typically the compilations are a mix of previously released eShop 3D classics, and new, previously-unreleased titles. The only 3D classics on the eShop that haven’t appeared in collection are 3D After Burner II, 3D Streets of Rage II, 3D Gunstar Heroes, 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and 3D Super Hang-on . We expect that those will certainly be included, and as for the four or five new titles being remastered, those are still a mystery. As long as I get 3D Forgotten Worlds or 3D ToeJam & Earl, I’ll be happy.
