The Battlefield 1 Open Beta Is Live!

The Battlefield 1 Open Beta Is Live!

The Battlefield 1 open beta has finally arrived! You can download the beta now for your Xbox One, PS4, or PC (via Origin) and begin playing. DICE hasn’t stated when the beta will conclude, but rumor has it that it’ll wrap up on September 8. Included in the beta is one map, Sinai Desert, and two game modes: Conquest and Rush. Conquest is the large-scale 64-player war that Battlefield is famous for, and Rush is a 24-player, objective-based mode.

The beta weighs in at about 7 gigs on all platforms, which is pretty manageable. For anyone playing on PC, just know that the resolution settings are a little wacky. There’s a resolution slider that enables you to render the game above or below native resolution and the default is, strangely, set at 42. Players have been misunderstanding this odd setting and sliding it up to 50 or 100, killing their performance. 42 really is your native resolution. Just update your graphics drivers, optimize, and leave the damn slider alone.
