Sony Canceling, Refunding GT Sport Pre-Orders

Sony Canceling, Refunding GT Sport Pre-Orders

Well this doesn’t look too promising, does it? Last week we learned that Sony and Polyphony were putting Grand Turismo Sport on hold indefinitely. Originally the game was scheduled for release on November 18, but now all we know is that it will be available some time in 2017. Beginning yesterday, eager Gran Turismo fans who had placed their pre-orders for GT Sport reported receiving the following message (via TeamVVV ): “On 30th August 2016 we regrettably announced that the release of Gran Turismo Sport has been delayed until 2017. We do not have a new release date at this time. We have, therefore, decided to cancel your pre-order and refund your pre-order payment.”

It’s concerning because if the team anticipated releasing the game early 2017, surely the wiping out of all pre-orders wouldn’t be necessary. This suggests some major changes for the game that will take some serious time. The message went on to say that “Once we have a new release date for Gran Turismo Sport we will offer a revised pre-order for it on the PlayStation Store at the earliest opportunity.” Stay strong, everyone. Just imagine how polished and wonderful this will look in Neo mode, and how fun it’ll be in VR.
