Consoles, the final frontier. These are the voyages of Star Trek Online . Its free-to-play mission: to let players explore strange new worlds, to let them seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no gamer has gone before. That’s my elaborate and geeky way of saying that Star Trek Online is now available on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The console versions of Star Trek Online have both expansions and all major updates released for the PC version of the MMO so far, which means over 130 missions are available to play. You create your own character, who can be a human or alien like a Klingon, Vulcan, Romulan, Fergengi, Trill, Bajorn, or Orion. You join the Federation, Klingon Empire, or Romulan Republic. You head out and enjoy a virtual universe with an all-new control scheme designed for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Maybe you’ll even pay real cash for extra races or features. You’ll see how it goes.
Now is a really good time to give Star Trek Online a try. First, Star Trek Beyond was a pretty good Star Trek movie and a great way to get back into that world. Second, Star Trek: Discovery is coming in January, so this can help you prepare. Third, it’s free-to-play. You’ve got nothing to lose!
