Poland’s Getting a The Witcher Stamp

Poland’s Getting a The Witcher Stamp

It’s always weird when something we consider niche and nerdy is hugely acknowledged by the non-gaming, normal world, right? Right! Well, prepare yourself for one of those moments. You know The Witcher series? It’s a pretty big deal here, but even more so in developer CD Projekt RED’s home country of Poland. So much so that it’s getting a stamp. It’s particularly notable for gaming because although the character of Geralt of Rivia originated in a series of Polish novels by acclaimed author Andrzej Sapkowski, the artwork on this stamp is of CD Projekt’s version of Geralt.

A The Witcher stamp with Geralt on it is going to be sold in Poland. It is worth 6 złoty . That’s about $1.50, though you’ll probably have to pay more than that if you decide you want this collector’s item. Or, I mean, maybe make a Polish penpal?

It kind of makes you wish we’d see video game characters on US stamps. In 2014, games were on a list of allegedly leaked stamp subjects that The Washington Post found.
