Rumor: NX Hardware Finalized, Entering Early Production

Rumor: NX Hardware Finalized, Entering Early Production

Earlier this month, Emily Rogers published a blog post compiling everything she knew about Nintendo’s upcoming NX based on SDKs obtained by developers. She suggests a moderately powerful handheld unit, not quite reaching Xbox One-levels of raw power, with mediocre battery life and a dock for playing games on the big screen. You can check out the post for her full list of unofficial specs, but the bottom line is it sounds great. Rogers also asserts that the NX will use cartridge-based media.

Now it sounds as if those unofficial specs will soon be revealed as the official specs, as the hardware has been finalized. According to a recent update to Rogers’ post:

  • Toshiba, Megachips, and Macronix are all involved with the Nintendo NX.
  • Toshiba is the world’s second-largest NAND chip maker after Samsung. They also manufactured the flash memory chips for the Nintendo 3DS.
  • NX hardware is finalized. Don’t expect any drastic changes.
  • NX is now entering a very early stage of production.
  • Zero percent chance of NX being delayed from its March launch.

If the NX is indeed finalized and being produced on a mass scale, we shouldn’t be too far off from an official reveal from Nintendo. Right? Guys? Please?
