The Final Fantasy TCG Comes to NA Next Month

When is the last time you sat down with another human being and played a real, physical trading card game? For those of you who, like me, grew up playing the Pokemon TCG and Magic: The Gathering , there’s a social aspect to these games that simply can’t be recreated online with games like Hearthstone . Square Enix has your back, and after a successful six-year run in Japan with 15 expansions, 3.5 million booster packs sold, and over 2,000 different cards, the Final Fantasy TCG is finally coming to North America.

“The FINAL FANTASY Trading Card Game (“FFTCG”) is the result of a close collaboration between Hobby Japan and Square Enix. Designed by former trading card game champion Taro Kageyama, the game received high praise for its blend of strategy, luck and fast-paced gameplay making it very versatile and appealing to all kinds of audiences.” You can check out the official site for some tutorials videos and more information. The game does look very interesting, and the cards features some phenomenal artwork.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, the first set of cards, titled “Opus 1,” will hit store shelves on October 28. Opus 1 features 216 cards, all of which will have a premium “foil” version for you collectors out there. Happy battling, and happy trading!
