The first bit of DLC for Dark Souls III , Ashes of Ariandel , was set to officially launch tomorrow. However, due to an error, Xbox One players who had purchased the Dark Souls III Season Pass gained access to the DLC prematurely. Souls fans being the passionate bunch that they are, you can only imagine the uproar. From Software made the following statement to Gamespot in response:
” Due to a logistical error, the Dark Souls III Ashes of Ariandel DLC was made available for download for a short period of time for Xbox One players. We have since corrected this scheduling error and the Dark Souls III Ashes of Ariandel DLC will now be available on October 24, 2016 at 3 PM PDT for Steam players and October 24, 2016 at 9 PM PDT for console players.” For those of you who haven’t looked at your calendars, that would be today. The statement went on to say, “We regret any confusion this may have caused to players and Dark Souls III fans; we look forward to seeing everyone within the world of Ariandel.”
So if you’re playing on PC, expect the DLC to go live around 6PM EST tonight. Console players, unfortunately, will have to wait until midnight to play Ashes of Ariandel , which is $15 for non Season Pass owners.
