European Store Charging for PSVR Demos

European Store Charging for PSVR Demos

Now’s a good time to be thankful you’re living in North America. It turns out one retailer in Europe is trying to get some extra money out of people interested in Sony’s PlayStation VR. GAME has been requiring people to book a 10-30 minute demo and pay £5-15 (~$6.11-$18.33) to try it. Naturally, people were upset about this.

Game decided to explain itself via an official statement. It reads like a bunch of excuses, but here it goes. Apparently, it claims it wants to ensure it has dedicated staff handling the PSVR pods. It also says people who buy a headset or PS4 after paying for a demo will get their £15 back.

It still sounds a little skeevy to me. I mean, The £5 10 minute option doesn’t seem that bad. But anything over that sounds a bit much. Would you pay it? I don’t think I would.
