Necromancer Is Coming to Diablo III at Last

Necromancer Is Coming to Diablo III at Last

This past weekend’s annual BlizzCon event brought with it no shortage of exciting news for Blizzard fans. While much of the focus was on Overwatch ‘s new character, game modes, and eSports league, every major Blizzard IP was represented at the show to some degree. Among these was Diablo III: Reaper of Souls , which is still going strong with new Seasons and, as of early next year, will feature an additional character class: the fan-favorite Necromancer.

The Rise of the Necromancer Pack is not an expansion pack in the traditional sense, but it is substantially larger than the typical updates Diablo III receives on a regular basis. The Necromancer class sits at the heart of the update, with an ability loadout that allows him or her to manipulate the dead, summon Blood Golems, and more. The class will also have its own legendary armor and weapons to collect.

In addition to the new (old?) class, Blizzard is also adding a 20th Anniversary Dungeon based on the original Diablo . This dungeon will be included in the free The Darkening of Tristram patch, which goes live on the Public Test Realm this week. It features classic enemies and events, as well as ’90s-inspired visual and audio filters. Players will also be able to explore two new areas, the Shrouded Moors and the Temple of the Firstborn. Seasons are finally coming to consoles as well, beginning with Season 10. Every time I think I’ve beat the Diablo III addiction, Blizzard finds a way to make me come back for more.
