Skyrim: Special Edition’s Busted Patch Getting Patched

Skyrim: Special Edition’s Busted Patch Getting Patched

Did you think The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition would be perfect at launch, because surely Bethesda wouldn’t have problems with a rerelease of a 2011 game? Ha! I like your naiveté. No, it’s a buggy, broken mess again. Except this time, part of the problem comes from an update 1.1 patch designed to fix the base game.

See, Skyrim: Special Edition 1.1 was released on November 8. Almost immediately after, people began reporting issues with the game crashing. Some people had it happen right away. Others had it happen after a few minutes. Some were able to get around it with new saves. Others weren’t. It was a problem, and one that Bethesda is now addressing.

Update 1.2 is now in the works for Skyrim: Special Edition . Its goal? Fix update 1.1. There are other things too, related to water rendering and alt-tab issues. But it’s primarily about righting the wrongs it made. It’s available in a beta form for PCs immediately, though the console versions aren’t out yet.

If you have Skyrim: Special Edition auto-updates enabled, maybe don’t play the game for a while? Give Bethesda a few days to fix these problems. Which, honestly, shouldn’t be there given the age of the game.
