The Division Lives on With Its Second Expansion

The Division Lives on With Its Second Expansion

Those who purchased a season pass for Ubisoft’s The Division now have access to its second expansion pack, Survival. The pack launched earlier this week for Xbox One and Windows PC, with a PlayStation 4 release to follow on December 20. This expansion features scavenging elements not unlike Rise of the Tomb Raider ‘s Endurance Mode. In Survival, you must now balance your exploration with securing food, medicine, and clothing under harsh conditions.

You’ll be able to choose between PvP and PvE modes in Survival. The difference is that this time, each setting applies worldwide, including Dark Zones, which are normally the only PvP areas. In addition to contending with other hostile players, Survival pits you against the Hunter, a powerful new enemy type who prowls the expansion’s new environment.

Even if you don’t purchase Survival or the season pass, you’ll be able to play with the game’s 1.5 update. This free patch adds a new world tier, 12 weapon types, three high-end named weapons, and six high-end named pieces of gear. The Division will receive one more expansion pack at a not-yet-determined date.
