Sony Launches PlayStation Communities App

Sony Launches PlayStation Communities App

Sony added a third PlayStation smartphone app to its lineup this week. The new Communities app joins the PlayStation app (which grants access to the PlayStation store, friends list, trophies, and more) and Messages app, all of which are immediately available for Android and iOS.

The Communities app creates a way for players to access their preferred gaming groups on the go. You can use the app to view community profiles, see which ones you’ve already joined, and interact with other players in those communities. Sony aims to make it easy for you to share status updates and images on community walls with a streamlined posting interface. They’ve also implemented push notifications in case you want to keep abreast of the latest activity in your groups.

Although I don’t use Communities myself, it’s nice that Sony is making it easier to engage with other like-minded players. Typing on a PS4 is kind of a pain without a dedicated keyboard, so the Communities app should make it simpler than ever to post witty retorts to your friends’ screenshots.
