Ex-BioWare Devs Announce Dauntless

Another exciting announcement came out of The Game Awards 2016 last night, this time courtesy of Phoenix Labs. The studio, comprised of ex-developers for BioWare, Capcom, Blizzard, and Riot Games, has revealed its first game to be co-op action RPG Dauntless.

Set in “an untamed science-fantasy world,” Dauntless allows four players to team up online and hunt fearsome creatures known as Behemoths. As a Slayer, you’ll be able to use the spoils of your hunts to craft new weapons and armor, which will help you in the fight against ever-stronger enemies. To say that the game resembles Monster Hunter is an understatement; the dev team says they took inspiration from Capcom’s franchise, as well as Dark Souls and World of Warcraft , in designing Dauntless.

Dauntless is slated to release exclusively on PC sometime in 2017. Its debut cinematic trailer is embedded below. For a better look at gameplay, head on over to the Dauntless official website .
