Developer WayForward has announced that the next long-awaited installment in the Shantae series is about to be released. Following its completion and certification for digital distribution, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is set to be released on December 20.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is the fourth game in the series, and was produced thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2013. As the titular Shantae, players run through side-scrolling levels while using magical dances and weaponized hair to defeat their would-be foes. The game will launch simultaneously for Steam on Windows PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Vita. The Wii U version is slated to release the same day, but WayForward is awaiting final confirmation from Nintendo.
If you prefer having physical copies of your games, you’ll be pleased to know that XSEED is publishing Half-Genie Hero in North America. Retail copies should be launching around the same time, but the official date has yet to be confirmed.
