Pokemon Go Event May Be Coming to Starbucks

Pokemon Go Event May Be Coming to Starbucks

I’m still neck-deep in Pokemon Sun , but I know plenty of other folks who continue to play Pokemon Go regularly. Recent events have provided some welcome boosts to candy acquisition in the game, which has been a boon for active players. The next event, however, could hold something more exciting in store: if leaks are correct, visiting a Starbucks store this Thursday could yield all-new Pokemon.

An image on Reddit points to an e-mail sent out to Starbucks employees advising them of an upcoming Pokemon Go event to be held in stores across North America. Most will be turned into either Pokestops or Gyms as of Thursday. Players who check in at these stores can purchase a new Pokemon Go Frappuccino as a “reward.” The drink is a spin on a vanilla bean Frappuccino with raspberry syrup and freeze-dried blackberries. Doesn’t sound like my jam (heh), but I’m sure it’ll prove to be popular.

Perhaps more enticing is the e-mail’s vague allusion to “new Pokemon.” This could mean that Niantic is about to flip the switch on a first-gen Legendary or a new batch of creatures to capture, but it could also be a badly-worded corporate e-mail and nothing more. My bet’s on the latter. I’m already at Starbucks all the time anyway, so I figure I might as well get some Pokeballs out of my daily coffee run.
