Final Fantasy XV Will Receive Major Free Updates in 2017

Final Fantasy XV Will Receive Major Free Updates in 2017

In an almost baffling move so soon after release, Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XV will be receiving a slew of major updates in the coming year. These free additions to the game will make alterations to the game’s story, pacing, and mechanics – which is a pretty big deal, considering some of the problems fans have pointed out with the game.

I, for one, found the game’s pacing in the latter half to be jarringly disconnected from the first half. Square Enix intends to remedy this by adding story scenes that explain certain characters’ motivations. They’ll also be making changes to the controversial Chapter 13, which has been criticized for its poor design. After that, they’ll look into making additional playable characters, adding a New Game+ mode, making it possible to increase the font size, adding new bosses with their own related achievements, and adding limited-time hunts.

All of these changes will be free and come in addition to the DLC slated to be included with the game’s season pass. The DLC schedule includes a Holiday Pack, Booster Pack, episodes starring each of Noctis’ three allies, and an Expansion Pack titled Comrades . It sounds like Final Fantasy XV will continue to grow considerably over the next year. Kinda makes me wish I’d waited to play it.
