eSports must be getting big, because it’s inspiring a movie. A comedy, to be exact. Legendary, Mosaic, and Gary Sanchez Productions are all teaming up for a film about a “famous” eSports star. And who might that be? Will Ferrell. Well, and real eSports athletes.
There aren’t too many details about this project yet, which has just been announced. Its script is being written by Michael Kvamme, who’s currently writing the third SpongeBob SquarePants movie, and Jordan Dunn, who wrote Your Friends Will Never Believe You, Teenage Mountain Lion , and is also working on the next SpongeBob movie. The Fnatic eSports organization is also involved, as is the eSports team Evil Geniuses.
We’ll have to see how this plays out. Will Ferrell has been in some silly-funny movies that focus on odd professions, like race car driver and figure skater, so maybe this film will find a niche?
