Demon’s Crest Flies to 3DS Virtual Console

Demon’s Crest Flies to 3DS Virtual Console

I grew up playing Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts , sure, but it was Demon’s Crest that always had me coming back for more. You and I will be able to relive its demonic glory on the go beginning today, as Nintendo has announced that Demon’s Crest is available on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console.

The darker half of Capcom’s demon-slaying side-scroller starred Firebrand (or Red Arremer, as he’s known in Japan) on a quest to reclaim six magical gems before his dark realm is destroyed. It was a surprisingly dark game by Super Nintendo standards, especially in an era when Nintendo was prone to censoring all instances of anything that could be construed as religious imagery. The game is available immediately for the reasonable price of $8.

Other Virtual Console releases today include Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon ($10) and Metroid: Other M ($20) on Wii U. Man, now all I can think about is how nice it’d be to have a Fire Emblem collection on Nintendo Switch. Please, Nintendo?
