Free DOOM Update Adds New Multiplayer Mode

The fifth update for DOOM has arrived, and best of all, it won’t cost you a penny. Its central feature is a new multiplayer mode called Infernal Run. Teams will compete against one another to carry an eyeball through enemy territory and slam it into their goal. It’s like soccer meets capture the flag meets… I don’t know, something appropriately disgusting. It’s DOOM, all right.

The update also increases the level cap for players to Echelon 11, with the signature DOOM marine armor as a reward for reaching the top. You’ll be able to hone your skills against AI enemies in Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch on any of the original multiplayer maps, since bots have been added to the game.

The final paid DLC pack is releasing next week, which will add new maps and a new demon to the game. In the meantime, you can take advantage of a double XP event from now until December 12 at 9AM PT. Sounds perfect for getting you to Echelon 11 before the next update hits. Check out the trailer for today’s update below:
