Grab Lost Odyssey for Free on Xbox One

The Xbox One backwards compatibility list continues to grow. Earlier this year, two of the most-requested titles were added to the lineup: the RPG one-two punch of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey . Previously, these were only accessible by way of their original Xbox 360 discs, but both are now available digitally on the Xbox Marketplace.

As an added bonus, Microsoft is offering Lost Odyssey for free until December 31 to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the backwards compatibility program. This large-scale RPG is essentially a Final Fantasy title in everything but name. Headed by legendary producer Hironobu Sakaguchi, Lost Odyssey tells the story of the immortal Kaim and his struggle against the twisted sorcerer Gongora. It’s available right now on the Microsoft Store .

Even if you don’t currently own an Xbox 360 or an Xbox One, you can still add the game to your library. Simply sign in to the Microsoft Store on a computer or mobile device and go through the checkout process. Then you’ll be able to download it in the future if you ever find yourself in possession of the appropriate console. I’m getting wistful just thinking about some of those short stories. Lost Odyssey really was something special.
