Back in September, Niantic’s John Hanke said Pokemon Go wouldn’t be limited to iOS and Android devices. It was going to come to the Apple Watch. It was even supposed to arrive this year. But with December about to end, we still haven’t seen Pokemon Go on watches. This led to a rumor that said it was cancellied. It is not!
GameSpot got in touch with a Niantic representative about the rumor. Rather than not commenting, the person confirmed Pokemon Go is headed to the watch. It is still in development and announcements are on the way. However, no release date was confirmed.
Given the issues Pokemon Go faced at launch, with too many people playing at launch, server issues, and other problems, this isn’t too unexpected. When problems show up, features and ports get delayed. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Pokemon Go on Apple Watches next year.
