Dragon Quest XI Details, Opening Cinematic Revealed

Dragon Quest XI Details, Opening Cinematic Revealed

It was a huge weekend for Dragon Quest fans, as Square Enix finally lifted the veil on Dragon Quest XI after nearly two years of silence. The company debuted a cinematic trailer at Jump Festa 2017, showcasing the game’s cast of characters and the vibrant world they inhabit. It’s gorgeous. Seriously, just watch:

We also got a glimpse at exploration with a new gameplay video. Dragon Quest XI is in development for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS, each with its own distinct graphical style. The PS4 version is crisp and high-fidelity, while the 3DS version features 3D visuals on the top screen that are faithfully recreated in 2D on the bottom screen. Also, you can ride a horse! Eat it, Witcher III.

It was also confirmed that a Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Quest XI is in development, though we don’t know which of the two styles it will use. I’m excited enough that I’ll probably grab one of each – they look totally different, after all. Dragon Quest XI releases in Japan in 2017. A North American release has not yet been confirmed, but I don’t see how it couldn’t come here following the series’ recent resurgence.
