Xbox One Exclusive Scalebound Canceled

Xbox One Exclusive Scalebound Canceled

Say it ain’t so, Microsoft! Platinum Games’ draconic action-RPG title Scalebound has been canceled. Yes, its E3 2016 trailer raised some questions about the quality of its voice acting, but that didn’t mean we wanted to bury the poor thing! This tale of a young man and his dragon buddy looked like a good time, with huge enemies to battle and up to four-player co-op included.

Sadly, Microsoft has decided that its 2017 lineup is too crowded for the likes of Scalebound , and canceled the title for “business reasons.” Since it was an exclusive Xbox One title, that means it’s pretty much dead, especially if the contracts involved keep developer Platinum Games from shopping the title around to other publishers.

Here is Microsoft’s official statement on the cancellation, as sent to Windows Central:

“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for “Scalebound.” We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including ‘Halo Wars 2,’ ‘Crackdown 3,’ ‘State of Decay 2,’ ‘Sea of Thieves’ and other great experiences.”

Were you looking forward to Scalebound ? As somebody who isn’t really into first-person shooters or zombie games, it was one of the few Xbox One titles that interested me. It’s a shame that the diversity of exclusives on Microsoft’s console has been narrowed once again.
