Super Mario Odyssey’s Heading to the Switch

Super Mario Odyssey’s Heading to the Switch

You can’t have a Nintendo system without a Mario game, so naturally there was one revealed during the Switch event. It’s going to be called Super Mario Odyssey , and it breaks from the typical formula. In this installment, Mario’s going to be running around and exploring a sandbox world. One where there are ordinary, normal-sized people. Mario looks very weird when standing next to standard civilians.

As is usual, Bowser is up to his tricks. He’s abducted Princess Peach. Which leaves Mario to run around trying to save her. During the announcement trailer, Mario gets to explore different worlds and see different people. He also has a rather spiffy hat with new powers. For example, he can throw it over a gap and use it as a temporary platform.

Unfortunately, we don’t get to have Super Mario Odyssey at launch. Which is really weird, given the barren landscape seen during this presentation. Instead, it’ll appear during the 2017 holiday season. I guess we’ll have a good Christmas?
