Nintendo Introduces 1-2-Switch and Arms

Nintendo Introduces 1-2-Switch and Arms

Ever since Wii Sports, it seems we can’t get a new Nintendo console without some odd new launch window games aimed at showing off that console’s abilities. This time, Nintendo will be releasing a party game called 1-2-Switch at launch and a more involved motion-controled game called Arms in the summer.

1-2-Switch is a mini-game compilation that’s meant to be played at get-togethers and show off the “HD Rumble” function of the Joy-Con controllers. Players don’t even look at the screen, but instead at each other. They’ll be playing a series of quick-draw type games that require them to attempt to read their opponent’s next move. Sounds rather quirky!

The second announced game, Arms , looks like more fun for dedicated gamers. It’s a boxing game, except the boxers all have giant springy arms that let them hit each other from a distance. The game is motion-controlled with one Joy-Con in each hand. You move by tilting the Joy-Cons and hit by punching forward. If you twist a Joy-Con while you punch, your arms will curve. I see it providing many hours of fun for the kiddos and many injuries for lame old people like me.
