Have you been worried about whether or not Nioh will actually be released at the beginning of February, Koei Tecmo has some good news. The game has gone gold! Development is entirely done, it’s heading into production, and it will be showing up on the PlayStation 4 on February 7. That’s great news!
Especially since it’s going to be a very difficult game in a rather barren month. February is notoriously slow. Which means a game like Nioh, which could take a long time to clear, will be very welcome. Fumihiko Yasuda, the director, told Destructoid that it was designed to be “masocore.” That is, both masochistic and hardcore.
I think it’ll be interesting to see how it handles history. Nioh was inspired by the story of the Western samurai, William Adams, and it’ll be cool to see how fantasy and reality mix.
