With Stormblood , the second full expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, set to release this summer, the post- Heavensward update series draws to a close. Today marks the release of Patch 3.5, The Far Edge of Fate , and with it comes some long-awaited additions and adjustments to the game.
The story in this patch focuses on the Garlean occupation of Ala Mhigo, the oft-mentioned homeland of many important characters and eventual setting for Stormblood . Players will travel to a new dungeon called Baelsar’s Wall, combat the third deity in the Warring Triad, raid the cursed city of Dun Scaith, and more. There are plenty of quality-of-life additions as well, including a glamour system for Summoner pets, the expansion of the chocobo companion feature, and improved cross-server grouping tools.
Today’s patch is set to be complemented by The Far Edge of Fate Part 2 sometime in March, which will set the stage for Stormblood in the Summer. You can get a peek at all of the new content by viewing the lengthy trailer below.
