Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood Pre-Orders Detailed

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood Pre-Orders Detailed

Sure, you’ve heard of announcements, but what about announcements for pre-order announcements? In typical Square Enix fashion, the company revealed last week that it would soon release details on how to pre-order the second expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, Stormblood. They subsequently held a broadcast late last night that filled us in on all of the juicy details.

First, pre-orders for Stormblood are set to begin next Tuesday, January 24, at 12:00 PM PST. You’ll be able to purchase a physical or digital copy for either PlayStation 4 or PC for $40. The physical Collector’s Edition, on the other hand, weighs in at a hefty $200 price point, and will only be available through the Square Enix online store. It includes the game, a statue of antagonist Zenos yae Galvus, a cloth map, an art book, a Stormblood window cling, and a collector’s box featuring series artist Yoshitaka Amano’s artwork. It also includes three in-game digital items: a Syldra mount, a Bartz minion, and a Chicken Knife weapon for the new Red Mage class. If you’re like me and only interested in these digital goodies, you can purchase the Digital Collector’s Edition for $60 on PS4 or PC. There’s even a Complete Edition for new players that includes the base Final Fantasy XIV game and its two expansions for $60.

But wait, there’s more! Pre-ordering Stormblood will net you three more digital bonuses: a Red Mage minion, a pair of Ala Mhigan earrings, and most importantly, early access to the game beginning on June 16. Support for the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIV will end with the release of Stormblood, but existing players can upgrade to the PS4 version free of charge through December 31, 2017.
